Strategic Commercial Intelligence - Associate Director

London - £60-90,000 plus excellent package

  1. Private Equities Group
  2. Consumer and Industrial Markets (CIM)  which covers a wide range of industry sectors from retail to automotive, from food and drink to pharmaceuticals
  3. Financial Services (FS) services clients in the financial sector including retail and investment banking, insurance, wealth management and leasing.
  4. Information Communication and Entertainment (ICE)
  5. Infrastructure and Government (I& G) services five main industries: property, construction, transport, Central Government, Health and Private Finance Initiative & Public Private Partnership projects

 

Their Strategic and Commercial Intelligence unit provides commercial due diligence support and strategic input to companies. Their team of 70 experts is growing. Their experts collect market data from many sources and generate data if required. They have access to a growing "expert network", giving us access to niche experts in most areas. With strong national and growing international presence and capability, the group's service offering complements the wider range of our client services and they are recruiting across a number of different industry sectors.

The Responsibilities

The projects that SCI work on are often time pressured and will involve working in a variety of project teams. Working as a senior member of the team your responsibilities will include the following:

 

  • Lead and deliver market reviews, strategic studies, business planning and other complex projects
  • To assume full responsibility for medium sized transactions or elements of large transactions reporting directly to a partner
  • Project leadership on multi-work stream programmes and/or leader for large content workstreams
  • Directing and monitoring the work of junior analysts and researchers
  • Management and contribution to the development of junior staff
  • Actively manage the client interface and take responsibility for delivery and fulfilment of projects
  • Lead business development initiatives including bid proposal and contract/commercial management
  • Building or maintaining clients in both corporate and financial institutions

The Person

To succeed in this demanding role you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

 

  • Strong academic background and ACA qualified or MBA or with 4 - 5 years+ experience gained in strategic consultancy, investment banking, corporate M& A or similar analytical and transaction experience (Where no ACA qualification you must have the ability to demonstrate strong financial analysis and skills)
  • Credible record of operating at a senior management/board level in either the public or private sector with a record of business development
  • Experience of leading project teams strong project management and an understanding of project management principles
  • Experience of working in client facing role delivering high quality work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify critical data and intelligence sources and ensure that conclusions drawn are supported with objective evidence
  • Strong communication skills - able to question effectively and listen in order to gain full understanding of client issues and needs
  • Strong results-focussed orientation
  • Ability to be flexible, responsive and enthusiastic
  • Detailed knowledge of key business and economic issues
  • A team player with a collaborative and supportive approach
